#OccupyLibraries are spreading

De #Occupy-beweging heeft ook een bibliotheek: A Library Occupies the Heart of the Occupy Movement

"This is one of the purest public libraries out there. It exists to inform and entertain anyone who can access it. Books are donated to the library by supporters, making for an incredible organic collection. It is a circulating library, and one that follows a model a lot of us would envy. Take any book, read it, bring it back when you feel like it. If you don’t bring it back to the People’s Library, then pass it on to someone else. There are no cards, no fees, no RFIDs."

De Occupy WallStreet People's Library telt op dit moment zo'n 3580 titels. Librarything schreef er een mooie blogpost over: Occupy Libraries!

"While you may agree or disagree with the Occupy movement as a whole, we think what they’re doing with books and libraries is simply awesome."

Daar ben ik het helemaal mee eens. Jij ook?

urgentie en belangrijkheid : Twitter

Tijdens #smc013 kwam het weer 'ns aan bod: Covey's eigenschap 3: belangrijke dingen eerst.

Als je dit schema ziet, lijkt het zo eenvoudig om je bezigheden in te delen aan de hand van de basiscriteria van timemanagement: urgentie en belangrijkheid.
Maar in de praktijk valt dat toch best wel tegen. En dat werd ook duidelijk toen Laurens Smit aan de aanwezigen vroeg waar bijvoorbeeld Twitter in te delen. In alle vier de kwadranten bleek uit de reacties.

Ter illustratie heb ik enkele willekeurige voorbeelden bijeen geschraapt:
Q1 - crisis: Twitter steekt de officiële crisiscommunicatie de loef af
Q2 - kwaliteit: Kennis delen via Twitter
Q3 - afleiding: Voorkom afleiding: roei vijf T's uit!
Q4 - verspilling: Twintig totaal nutteloze maar erg leuke Twitter-apps

Dat het niet om het middel (Twitter) gaat maar om het doel waarmee je een middel gebruikt, mag duidelijk zijn. Da's dan ook de boodschap die ik heb 'meegenomen': kies bewust!
